11-Year-Old Girl Killed in New Year’s Eve Crash

According to news reports, the girl’s father faces charges for murder and DWI after Monday night’s crash.

 

December 31, 2018 – 8:30 pm: The 11-year-old Vanessa Ledezma was killed in a crash that took place on Monday evening. Her father, Jorge Ledezma, has been charged with DWI and felony murder in connection with the crash.

The accident took place on the East Beltway at Highway 90 on New Year’s Eve. Jorge Ledezma was heading eastbound on the Crosby Freeway in his blue 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe at the time of the crash.

According to reports, Jorge Ledezma ignored a traffic control device when his SUV came to the intersection, hitting another SUV in the process. No one in the other SUV was injured in the crash.

Vanessa Ledezma was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, but was later pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

According to deputies on the scene, Ledezma showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and taken into custody, and at this time he faces felony murder charges related to the death of his daughter.

It took about five hours for the scene of the accident to be cleared up after the crash. The accident is still under investigation at this time.
