4th Grader Struck and Killed While Crossing the Street

According to news reports, it is not known why the boy ran out in front of the pickup truck that killed him.

 

December 15, 2018 – 7:40 pm: A 4th-grade student was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in the Dayton area on Saturday evening. The boy was a student at Regina Howell Elementary school.

The accident happened at the 8200 block of FM 1960, near County Road 622 in Liberty County.

For unknown reasons, the 10-year-old boy ran out in front of a Dodge Ram that was headed westbound on FM 1960. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston and was later pronounced dead.

A crisis team was in place on Monday, December 17, to help students with the loss. The child’s identity has not been made available to the public at this time. The name may be released after the boy’s family has been informed of the accident.

The cause of the accident is still unknown at this time, and police have not commented on whether or not there will be any charges or citations issued as a result of the accident. Because of the circumstances surrounding the accident, charges and citations appear unlikely at this time.
