December 17, 2018 – 10:00 pm: The 23-year-old Taylor Phillips was killed by a teen drunk driver in South Houston on Monday night. Phillips was a young mother, who was driving with her mother and her 1-year-old boy at the time of the accident.

The accident took place on College Avenue, near Alabama in south Houston.

The drunk driver crossed several lanes of traffic, crossing into the wrong lane and hitting Phillips’ SUV head-on. Phillips was killed in the crash, while her mother and son experienced what appear to be minor injuries.

The driver, 19-year-old Erick Hernandez, faces charges of intoxication manslaughter after the accident. He was reportedly so drunk that he was slurring his speech and staggered while trying to walk.

Police are trying to find out who sold Hernandez the alcohol, saying they may face charges for selling it to him. Hernandez was also carrying a fake ID at the time of the accident, and the police plan on charging the individual who made it.

The investigation into this accident is still ongoing as of this time.
