According to news reports, five employees were arrested for selling alcohol to 19-year-old Erick Hernandez, who has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
December 16, 2018 – 10:00 pm: Five employees of the Frontera Events Venue have been charged with liquor-related Class A misdemeanor violations in connection with the accident that killed a young mother late Sunday night.
Nineteen-year-old drunk driver Erick Hernandez faces charges of intoxication homicide for allegedly killing 23-year-old Taylor Phillips in a crash near the intersection of College Avenue and Alabama on Sunday night.
Police have since tracked down the bar that sold the alcohol to the minor and have made five arrests. Three bar employees face charges for making an alcoholic beverage available to a minor: Joaquin Gonzalez, 21, Mildred “Milly” Garcia, 21, and Anna Evelyn Lula, 19.
Bar employee Jazely Marie Barrera, 21, faces a charge of sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor.
Manager Gustavo Tejada-Garcia is charged with possession of an unauthorized beverage-retailer, because it is alleged that the venue sold tequila to Hernandez, despite only being licensed to sell beer and wine.
Hernandez himself faces charges of intoxication manslaughter in connection to his involvement in the accident that left Taylor Phillips’ one-year-old son without a mother.
This accident is still under investigation.
