According to news reports, heavy fog appears to have been a major factor in Tuesday morning’s accident.
December 18, 2018 – 2:00 am: The driver of an Infiniti SUV was killed after hitting the rear end of an 18-wheeler in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Heavy fog on the roadway is believed to have been a potential factor in the accident.
The crash took place in north Harris County, at the intersection of TC Jester and North Sam Houston Parkway.
The SUV driver was reportedly headed westbound on the North Sam Houston feeder road when he did not see an 18-wheeler stopped at a red light. The driver hit the back of the truck with heavy force.
The driver of the SUV was taken to Houston Northwest Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The man’s identity has not been made available to the public at this time.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured in the accident.
While the heavy fog may have contributed to the accident, at this point, it is still unknown whether it directly caused the crash. The accident is still under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at this time.
