Obtained a substantial recovery for a worker installing a component of a conveyor system who fell through a floor opening in a second floor walkway. The area had been released to his work crew, and one section of floor (steel grating) had not been closed in, and it was not marked or covered, in violation of state and federal (OSHA) standards, and the entire area was poorly lit. The worker fell through the floor opening approximately 15 feet, striking a fixture, and then landing on the concrete floor. He suffered multiple pelvic fractures and other injuries. After several months in a wheelchair, followed by extensive rehabilitation, the worker returned to work with minor residual impairment.<\/p>
