December 13, 2018 – 8:40 pm: A man in Chambers County was seriously burned, but was rescued by a pair of deputies last Thursday night. The deputies did not speak publicly about the event until Tuesday, when the victim was confirmed to be in stable condition.
The accident took place on State Highway 124, just south of Winnie. The crash ignited the unidentified victim’s vehicle, causing it to be engulfed in flames.
Chambers County deputies Braedon Boznango and Carlton Carrington arrived on the scene and quickly realized the man in the car would burn to death if they did not save him.
Deputy Carrington told reporters, “My first thought was we can’t let this guy burn to death right in front of us. I just remember watching the flames run up the man’s face.”
The deputies managed to rescue the man, who was hospitalized in serious condition. He is now stable, and the two men who rescued him are being hailed as heroes.
The causes of the accident are still under investigation at this time.
