Off-Duty Officer Injured in Motorcycle Accident

According to news reports, the officer was hit from behind while riding his motorcycle, which forced him into a patrol vehicle.

 

December 20, 2018 – 12:29 pm: An unidentified Houston police officer suffered minor injuries in a motorcycle accident that took place early Thursday afternoon. The officer was off-duty at the time of the crash. There were no other injuries in the three-vehicle accident.

The accident took place on the southbound lanes of the North Freeway, in the area of Cavalcade Street.

The off-duty officer was hit from behind, and the force of the impact forced his car into a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constable’s patrol vehicle.

According to the Houston Police Department, the HPD officer suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. In addition, the tweet advised drivers to avoid the area on account of likely delays while the crash was under investigation.

The officers involved in the crash have not been publicly identified, nor has the driver who originally hit the Houston police officer. We are told that the off-duty officer only suffered minor injuries.

This crash is still under investigation at the moment. As of 12:29 on Thursday afternoon, drivers are advised to expect delays.
