One Dead After Early Morning Crash in Harrison County

December 27, 2018

According to news reports, the crash took place early Thursday morning, while a man was headed eastbound on Interstate 20.

December 27, 2018 – 12:30 am: Charles Rashad Benne, of Haynesville, was killed in a single-vehicle accident that took place early in the morning in Harrison County on Thursday.

The crash took place about two miles west of Waskom, on I-20 in Harrison County.

Benne was driving eastbound at the time of the crash when his car hydroplaned on account of slick road conditions. He ran off the road, hitting a tree.

According to investigators, Benne was pronounced dead on the scene after hitting the tree. He was carrying one passenger in his vehicle. The passenger was injured, taken to the hospital, and is now recovering from the injuries.

Investigation into the accident is still ongoing. The fact that the car was hydroplaning makes it seem likely that wet roads were a factor in the crash, but police are not yet certain whether this was the main cause of the crash that took Benne’s life on Thursday morning.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no one else was injured in the accident.
