According to news reports, the crash happened very early on Saturday morning, and the condition of the driver is still unknown.
January 5, 2019 – 2:00 am: One 21-year-old man is dead and another man, also 21, has been hospitalized after an accident where their vehicle hit a tree in southeast Houston early on Saturday morning.
The accident happened on the 9000 block of Clearwood, in the area of the Gulf Freeway.
The two men were in a black Chevrolet Silverado, which was headed westbound on Clearwood at the time of the crash. For unknown reasons, the Silverado left the road and hit a tree.
Both men were hospitalized after the crash. The man in the passenger’s seat died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was injured in the crash and was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. His condition is not known at this time.
The cause of the accident is not currently known. Police have not commented on the possibility that alcohol was a factor in the crash, but given the time and circumstances of the accident, this appears to be a possibility.
Houston Police are still investigating the crash at this time.
