One Killed in Bastrop County Accident

According to news reports, the accident took place on Sunday afternoon on Texas Highway 71.

 

December 23, 2018 – 2:06 pm: One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash that happened on Highway 71 in Bastrop County early on Sunday afternoon. Police report that traffic was closed in both directions for several hours after the crash.

The accident took place near the intersection of Texas Highway 71 and Farm to Market 1209 in Bastrop County, according to a Tweet sent from the Texas Department of Public Safety Road Report on Sunday afternoon.

A subsequent Tweet from the same account confirms that the road was reopened in both directions by 5:37 p.m. that afternoon. On the whole, the roadway was closed for about three and a half hours on Sunday afternoon.

The cause of the accident and the circumstances leading up to the crash have not been made public as of this time. Neither the vehicles involved in the crash nor the identity of the individual who was killed in the accident has been publicly released as of yet.

The crash is still currently under investigation. More information may come to light as the Department of Public Safety continues looking into the accident.
