Pedestrian Critically Injured in Austin Crash

According to news reports, parts of Loop 360 were shut down for a while after the pedestrian was hit by an approaching vehicle.

 

January 8, 2019 – 9:37 pm: An unidentified pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash that took place in Austin on Tuesday night.

The crash took place on the 3600 block of Capital of Texas Highway.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the pedestrian who was hit is an adult male who was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The situation leading up to the crash is unknown at this time, and police have not commented on who was at fault in the accident.

Areas of Loop 360 southbound were shut down near the Barton Creek greenbelt for a time following the accident. Drivers were advised to expect delays and avoid the area for a time, while investigation and cleanup was underway.

The identities of the pedestrian and the driver who hit him have not been made available to the public at this time, although the fact that the victim was an adult male has been confirmed.

The accident is still under investigation at the present time.
