December 25, 2018 – 12:30 am: An unidentified 21-year-old man was killed after being hit by an SUV in Katy, Texas very early on Tuesday morning.

The accident took place at 1799 Fry Road in Katy, near Park Row Drive.

The victim was walking southbound on Fry Road when he was hit by the SUV, which was also heading southbound at the time of the accident. According to investigators on the scene, other drivers reported that the man was walking in the middle of the lane, so that many of them had to swerve to avoid hitting him.

The driver of the SUV stopped and called first responders onto the scene. Deputies of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office report that the driver did not show any signs of intoxication after the accident.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing. Deputies mention that the area where the accident took place is not well-lit. At this time, it appears that poor lighting combined with walking in the middle of the road were the main causes of the fatal pedestrian accident.
