Rollover Wreck Kills Two in the Corpus Christi Area

According to news reports, Sunday’s accident took place a short distance north of Alice, Texas.

October 14, 2018 – 7:00 am: Two people were killed and one was injured in a rollover accident that took place early on Sunday morning, near Alice, Texas.

The accident happened when a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe was headed southbound on U.S. Highway 281. There were three people on board the vehicle at the time of the accident.

A news release states that the car veered off the road about nine miles north of Alice, although investigators are still uncertain of what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The Tahoe hit the guardrail and flipped.

The driver and one passenger were killed in the accident. Daniel Munoz, 59, and Maria Trujillo, 59, both from Mercedes, died quickly and were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The unnamed third person aboard was injured in the crash, but was airlifted to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating the crash. The reasons for the driver’s loss of control are still unclear at this time.
