November 21, 2018 – 7:00 am: Three people were injured in a Dallas apartment fire that took place early Wednesday morning.

The fire took place at the apartment complex at the intersection of Interstate 635 and Ferguson Road in Dallas. Three people were injured in the fire, and about two dozen apartment units were destroyed in the flames.

One of the women in the building, Shuntara Thomas, was living on the third floor of the building. She awoke to find that the apartment was burning and the building had to be evacuated.

The stairs were blocked, so Thomas took her one-year-old baby to the window and shouted, “Can somebody catch my baby?”

The baby was caught by Byron Campbell, another resident of the complex. Thomas was able to escape the building by tossing out her mattress and jumping out onto it from the third floor.

There were three people injured in the fire, including one firefighter. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is still under investigation.
