December 11, 2018 – 6:30 am: Three men were killed and one was seriously injured in a crash that took place on westbound 290 and Roy Davis in Elgin, Texas.

The three men killed were Alixis Hernandez, 21, Jesus Escalante Valdez, 21, and Clemente Nava, 20. A fourth man was hospitalized with both arms and both legs broken.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the four men were in a Chevy Tahoe on the way to work when an 18-wheeler turned in front of them, causing the Tahoe to run underneath the trailer.

It appears that the driver of the 18-wheeler misjudged the distance between the two vehicles before making the turn.

The roadway was closed in both directions for several hours while DPS investigated the crash. A GoFundMe account has been started to help the families of the victims cover the costs of the funerals and any medical procedures the survivor may undergo.

Investigation into this accident is ongoing. DPS has not commented on whether or not any charges are expected to be filed in this case.
