Two Killed, Five Injured on Grand Parkway

According to news reports, off-duty police Officer Johnny Alvarez is being praised as a hero after taking action to restore order after the major crash.

 

December 12, 2018 – 2:00 pm: Two people were killed and five were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the Grand Parkway Wednesday afternoon.

The accident took place when a driver, 54-year-old Charles Glaze, crossed from the westbound lanes of Highway 99, over the median into the eastbound lanes. He hit four vehicles before coming to a stop.

Two were killed in the crash, while five were injured. At least one vehicle rolled over in the crash, and at least two were shredded.

Charles Glaze reports that he has no memory of the events leading up to the crash. He did not appear to be intoxicated, although he has a history of seizures, and it is not clear if a doctor had cleared him to drive. Glaze has a criminal record and was reportedly wearing an ankle tracking device at the time of the crash. However, he has not been charged with any crimes at this time.

Investigation into this major accident is ongoing, and there will no doubt be more developments in the coming days.
