Teen Killed in Tyler County Crash

News reports suggest that wet roadways could have contributed to the accident on Wednesday.

September 26, 2018 – 2:45 pm: A 16-year-old girl from Orange, Texas was killed in a head-on collision that injured three other individuals.

The accident occurred on FM 1013 in Tyler County, about 5 miles east of Spurger. A 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling eastbound, while a 2015 Ford Mustang was going westbound at the time of the accident.

For as-yet unknown reasons, the Pontiac crossed the center line into the westbound lane, hitting the Mustang head-on.

The force of the impact ejected a 16-year-old girl from the back of the Pontiac. She was taken to the Tyler County hospital with serious injuries, but she did not survive. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 4:29 pm. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The Pontiac’s driver, the 25-year-old Carley Buckley, along with another 16-year-old female passenger, were seriously injured in the crash. The Ford’s driver, 22-year-old Karli Mears, was also seriously injured. All three were taken to St. Elizabeth hospital.

State troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety are still investigating the crash at this time.
