Woman Killed in Possible Suicide After Jumping into Traffic

According to authorities, the woman opened the passenger side door of a moving vehicle and jumped out on the interstate.

 

January 8, 2019 – 12:45 am: A woman was killed after jumping out of a moving vehicle into traffic on the interstate early on Tuesday morning. She was hit by an 18-wheeler, which killed her on impact.

The woman was in the passenger’s seat of a vehicle with a male driver. The pair were headed southbound on I-45, in the area of Scott Street, at the time of the accident.

According to the man who was driving and to authorities, the woman was suicidal and distraught at the time the incident occurred.

She jumped out of the vehicle, stood up, and ran out into the highway, where the 18-wheeler hit her.

Both the man who was driving the vehicle the woman had been in and the driver of the 18-wheeler stopped and are cooperating fully with the police. Police commented that the driver of the 18-wheeler is not expected to face any charges in connection with the event.

The woman’s identity has not been released at this time. Police are still investigating the event.
