Woman Injured in Train Crash, Might Face DWI Charges

According to the woman’s account, she was crossing the tracks when the crossing arms trapped her vehicle on the railroad.

 

January 30, 2019 – 12:30 am: An unidentified woman survived a crash with a train very early on Wednesday morning, walking away from the accident with only minor injuries. Police suspect she may have been drunk at the time of the accident, so she may face DWI charges.

The accident took place while the woman was driving northbound on the southbound lanes of Heights Boulevard. She drove onto the tracks and the crossing arms came down around her vehicle, trapping her on the tracks.

The train struck the back end of her car, forcing it into some nearby bushes. Fortunately, the woman only experienced minor injuries in the accident.

Witnesses report that the woman remained in her vehicle for about five minutes after the crash before going to a parking garage nearby. Police found her at the parking garage and took the woman to the hospital from there.

The woman is suspected of drunk driving. Her identity has not been made available to the public at this time. Police are still investigating the possibility of DWI charges.
